One morning while at work I received a call from Shaun, an excellent engineer and friend of mine. Shaun called to check up on some parts ordered for a job that he was doing for the company. While chatting the subject of starting a business came up and Shaun told me to just do it. After the call ended I started considering this idea of starting my own business seriously.
That afternoon while sitting with a piece of papar I started writing names that I thought would work for a company name. Eventually I had 3 words; automotive, classic and exotic. The perfect words to describe what I want to do. Put them together and you have ACE.
I emediatly contacted my accountant and my brother in law (IT guru). I gave them the name ACE Garage to check if it was available. By the following morning I owned the domain and had the name registered. It was meant to be!
The next task was finding premises. With close consideration of where my clients are located as well as where my competition is located, I came up with the idea of looking in Strijdompark Randburg. I immediately found the shop advertised and took it.
This was the easy bit. On the 1st of April 2019 I walked into ACE Garage HQ and started putting a workshop together suitable for the cars that I will be working on.
I will be ready for business on the 8th of April. I can’t wait!!!!
Its the 3rd of May 2019 and after a month of hard work, things are falling into place. The 4 ton hoist is in place, outside signage is up and work benches are made.
There is a steady flow of classic British cars through the workshop which is fantastic.
ALL IS WELL!
